14 January - Happy Birthday Son !

I am still suffering from a very sore right hip.  It happened on 11 December, when I fell in the staircase of restaurant La Marchigiana in Brussels.   The doctors said healing would take 6 to 7 weeks.   Now I am at 5 weeks only ....

Therefore I have really not seen much of this village, Mirleft - happily the rooftop in front of our room is perfect and the sky is blue - every day.

- and the market is close enough for me to reach - more or less ‘jumping my way’.

For a freshly fried sardine or two - with mint tea, of course.  No, we are not yet tired of mint tea.

There are coffee and tea shops behind the blue culomns.  And bars.  But no alcohol is served.  The bar in our Hotel Abertih is the the only place in town to get a beer or a glass of wine.  Therefore very crowded already from late afternoon with both locals and tourists.

Waiting for supper at 19:00 hrs - watching life go by in this quiet village.

The barmans account sheet - a square with a line across means five of a kind.  30=beer, 40=glass of wine, b-wine=bottle of wine, etc....
